An early start to beat the crowds at the Keukenhof which necessitated catching two buses which we timed perfectly. The crowds were already building as we arrived at the entrance. By the time we decided to leave they were humungous. Keukenhof or "Kitchen Garden" is one of the worlds largest flower gardens, approximately 7 million bulbs are planted annually in a garden covering 79 acres. The garden was established in 1949 with the idea of presenting growers from the Netherlands the ability to show off their hybrids and help the Dutch export industry. The Netherlands is the worlds largest exporter of flowers
