APRIL 13 DAY 4 ARNHEM OPEN AIR MUSEUM

It was a short bus ride from the hotel to the Open Air Museum

This National Museum focuses on the culture associated with the everyday lives of the Dutch people. The park contains antique houses, farms and factories from different parts of the country. The 44 hectare museum was founded in 1912. In 1987 the government was ready to shut the museum but in a   demonstration of solidarity Dutch crowds flooded the museum hoping to view the exhibits before it closed. The museum was allowed to stay open due to its unprecedented success during this time. It was then given greater autonomy over its organization

It was cool day especially when out of the sunshine

Windmills galore

Tulips and Trams

A special Dutch treat for lunch of Poffertjes. Mini type pancakes made with sweet or savoury ingredients

Beer always puts a smile on the Grouch

Merel mixing it up

The group of Seven went out for dinner in Arnhem at the Turkish Restaurant "Ark Van Noach". While the food was, according to Patricia so good, the service sucked. Can't say there was much Turkish Delight
